The Artfibers store is in San Francisco's Financial District, which can be a surprisingly interesting focal point for excursions:Architectural landmarks, major shopping, and a farmer's market (Thursdays) right on our block
One block to a cluster of French restaurants, to BART subway transit (serving the entire bay region), and to historic trolley lines that connect neighborhoods to the waterfront
Two blocks to Chinatown, and to the nearest cable car line
Three blocks to Union Square, the heart of the hotel/shopping commercial district; three blocks in a different direction to the cluster of museums and galleries just South of Market, including the Museum of Modern Art
About five blocks to the North Beach Italian District, with lots of interesting sidewalk cafes and shops. We especially recommend City Lights Books, a true literary landmark.
About ten minutes' pleasant walk to the Ferry Terminal, the hub for boat rides all over the Bay, with its own fabulous artisanal food marche, one of the finest in the country (a great place to pack a picnic!)
We're surrounded by shops where you can browse for interesting books and maps, if that strikes your fancy. For impatient husbands there are nearby stores devoted to menswear, sporting goods, and tasteful heirloom jewelry (well you can dream, can't you?).
